Bobcats earn the 13-seed

The Saddleback men's basketball team was named the No. 13 seed for the upcoming California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional Tournament.  The Bobcats will host Moorpark College on Wednesday night in the opening round.

Saddleback is back in the playoffs for the third straight season after being named the 13-seed by the seeding committee on Sunday.  The Bobcats were one of five Orange Empire Conference teams to make the field of 24.

Saddleback finished tied for second place in the Orange Empire Conference, finishing 18-10 overall and 10-6 in the OEC.  The Bobcats had wins against four programs seeded in front of them, including the top seed in their own region (San Bernardino Valley).

Saddleback will play Moorpark College, who finished second in the Western State North Division.  The Raiders were 17-11 overall and 9-3 in Western State North play.   The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 PM.

Saddleback played Moorpark earlier in the season, defeating the Raiders 83-66 in the Alvin Hunter Classic at San Bernardino Valley.  In that game, Jimuel Reyes scored 24 points as the Bobcats bolted out to a 12-point lead at the half.  Saddleback's defense forced 16 turnovers in the game.

The winner will face San Bernardino Valley College on Saturday in San Bernardino.

The other half of the bracket has Pasadena City College (20-8) hosting Cerro Coso College (17-11) on Wednesday for the right to play San Diego Miramar College (25-3) on Saturday.
