Reyes and Burries lead All-OEC selections

The Saddleback men's basketball team finished in a tie for second place in the Orange Empire Conference this season and as a result had a handful of players make the all-conference squad.  Jimuel Reyes and James Burries were both selected to the first team while Nick Bowden and Elijah Al-Debaran made the second team, with Gerald Jones III being named honorable mention. 

Reyes led the team in scoring, averaging 15.5 points-per-game in 24 games during the season.  Reyes averaged 14.4 during Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play, shooting 88.9% from the free throw line while leading the team with 3.7 assists-per-game.  Reyes' best performance in conference play came against Riverside City College on January 9 when he scored 27 points against the Tigers.  Reyes scored in double-figures in 15-of-16 games during the OEC schedule.

Burries was second on the team in scoring during the season, averaging 13.5 points-per-game.  He led the team with 14.5 points-per-game during conference play while also leading the team with 5.7 rebounds-per-game.  Burries scored 20-or-more points in four Orange Empire Conference games with a high of 26 against Cypress College on February 1. 

Bowden had a big finish to the season when he made 6-of-7 shots from three-point range in finishing with 20 points against Santa Ana College on February 16.  He was third on the team in scoring during the season, averaging 12.8 points-per-game.  Bowden averaged 12.1 during conference play, shooting 40.0% from three-point range. 

Al-Debaran played in all 28 games during the season, averaging 11.7 points-per-game.  He was third on the team in conference play, averaging 12.4 while dishing out 3.0 assists-per-game.  Al-Debaran had a season-high 20 points against Irvine Valley on January 4 and finished second on the team during conference play with 28 three-pointers made.

Jones III became a force down the stretch, scoring a season-high of 26 points against Orange Coast College on February 8.  He averaged 9.8 points and 5.0 rebounds-per-game during conference play, averaging 14 points-per-game over the final two weeks of the season.

CCCAA playoff seedings are expected to be announced later in the day.
