Cats have some fun in Santa Ana

The Saddleback men's basketball team finished the week with an 86-69 win at Santa Ana College on Friday in Santa Ana.  The Bobcats had six players in double-figures in the win.

Saddleback closed out the opening round of Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play with a runaway win at Santa Ana.  The Bobcats scored the first seven points of the game and never trailed.

Saddleback opened up a huge lead in the opening half as Jimuel Reyes was red hot.  Reyes scored 17 points in the opening frame on 7-of-11 shooting, making 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.  The Bobcats also controlled the glass, outrebounding the Dons 20-14 in the opening 20 minutes.  The biggest lead came with 5:08 remaining when Reyes nailed a three-pointer for a 42-15 advantage.

Saddleback had it on cruise control in the second half as many others took the opportunity to show off their shooting skills.  Torrance Farr led the team with 12 points over the final 20 minutes while the team made 10-of-11 free throws.

Saddleback finished the game shooting 54.2% from the field, 52.6% from three-point range and 80% from the charity stripe as Santa Ana had no answers on defense.

Reyes finished with a game-high 21 points for Saddleback.  Elijah Al-Debaran finished with 16, James Burries 15, Farr 14 and Gerald Jones III and Nick Bowden had 10 points apiece.

Saddleback finishes the opening round of OEC play at 12-8 overall and 4-4 in conference play.  The Bobcats will host Santiago Canyon College on Monday to open the back half of the conference schedule.  Game time is scheduled for 5:00 PM inside the gymnasium.
