Bobcats heading to San Diego Miramar for CCCAA playoffs

The Saddleback men's basketball team qualified for the playoffs and will travel to San Diego Miramar College on Tuesday in the opening round of the California Community College Athletic Association Regional Playoffs.  The Bobcats garnered the 18-seed and will play for the rights to play West Los Angeles College on Thursday.

Saddleback finished 17-11 in 2021-22 and was tied for fourth place in the Orange Empire Conference (9-7).  The Bobcats were set to be the No. 17 seed in the playoffs but in an attempt to avoid a potential common Orange Empire Conference opponent (Fullerton) in the second round should they win, tournament organizers moved the Bobcats to No. 18.

Saddleback will play at San Diego Miramar, a program that finished 18-10 overall and 10-6 (3rd) in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.  The Jets won five games against programs in the tournament, beating No. 4 San Diego City, No. 13 Irvine Valley, No. 14 Palomar twice and No. 17 Mt. San Jacinto.  The Bobcats also scored five wins against teams in the tournament, beating No. 5 Santiago Canyon, No. 13 Irvine Valley, No. 17 Mt. San Jacinto, No. 19 Cypress and No. 22 Copper Mountain.

Saddleback is 4-2 lifetime against San Diego Miramar College.  The last time the two programs met was in November of 2018 when Miramar defeated Saddleback (81-70) in the opening round of the Palomar College Tournament.

The winner of Saddleback versus Miramar will play at West Los Angeles College (2-seed) on Thursday night.

Tip time for the game on Tuesday is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
