Bobcats enjoy early signing day

The Saddleback football program was back in the news on Wednesday as a number of players from the 2023 squad signed at four-year programs on early signing day.  Five different Bobcats inked their names with D1 programs.

Saddleback is off to a great start as Maurice Rodriques, Travis Arena, Darren Wiancko, L'Cier Luter and Michael D'Amato all took advantage of early signing day on Wednesday.

Rodriques signed at Texas Tech after a bevy of high-profile programs jumped on board in trying to recruit the 6-foot-7, 320-pound offensive tackle with an 86-inch wingspan.  Rodriques chose Texas Tech over other offers from Georgia, USC, UCLA, Florida and a number of others.

Wiancko was the second offensive lineman to sign when he inked a deal with Stephen F. Austin, located in Nacogdoches, Texas.  Wiancko was an All-National Division Southern League First Team selection in 2023.  He had other offers from Northern Arizona and Wagner.

Luter was the first player on the defensive side of the ball to sign when he inked with Ball State early in the morning.  Ball State is located in Muncie, Indiana, and plays in the Mid-America Conference.  Luter was named to the All-National Division Southern League Second Team following the season.  Luter had other offers from Towson and Alabama State.

Arena was the second defensive player off the board when he signed a deal with Northern Arizona, located in Flagstaff, Arizona.  Arena was also on the National Division Southern League Second Team following the season.  He had another offer from Wagner.

D'Amato was the final commitment of the day, signing with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, located San Luis Obispo, California.  D'Amato joined the aforementioned Wiancko on the National Division Southern League First Team following the season.  He also had an offer from Montana State.

Congrats to all of our Bobcats on signing day!
