Saddleback kicker honored

The Saddleback football program was back in the news on Tuesday when it was announced that one of the players was recognized by the Southern California Football Association (SCFA).  Kicker Kian Afrookhteh won an award for Special Teams Player-of-the-Week.

Afrookhteh has had a big season for the Bobcats in 2023 and had an exceptional game this past weekend at Southwestern when he scored 15 points on his own.  Afrookhteh made 3-of-3 field goals and all six extra points in a 53-3 win in Chula Vista. It all added up to the player-of-the-week award handed out by the SCFA, the governing body of community college football in Southern California.

Afrookhteh currently leads the team with 39 points for the year, making 7-of-8 field goals while going 18-for-18 on extra points. 

Afrookhteh and the Bobcats will take on San Diego Mesa College on Saturday inside the stadium.  Game time is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
