Seven Bobcats named academic all-state

The Saddleback football program was back in the news on Monday as it was announced that a number of players from the 2022 squad had made the California Community College Football Coaches Association (CCCFCA) Academic All-State Team.  Seven Bobcats met the qualifications, which tied for the lead in the Southern California ranks.

Saddleback has had a long history of the football program having solid academics and this season was just another example of the exceptional core values of the program.  The Bobcats had seven different players named to the team, which tied San Diego Mesa College for the lead in the southern half of the state.

In order to qualify, an athlete must have a cumulative 3.5 GPA.  Making the team from the 2022 squad were Connor Grace, Seth Lyon, Hiram deFries-Saronitman, Zadi Sekander, Roee Lachmish, Gavin Raab and Kyle Thomas

In addition to the seven named to the team, Saddleback was the only program in the state with multiple 4.0 GPA's, as both Grace and Lyon achieved the goal of a perfect GPA.

Saddleback opens the 2023 campaign at home against Ventura College on September 2.
