Three more Bobcats on the move

The baseball program was back in the news this week as the baseball office announced that three more players have committed to four-year universities.  Joshua Meekins, Isaiah Morales and C.J. Zwahlen all made choices this past week, bringing the total to 14 for the year.

Given all the success on the field this past season the baseball team has enjoyed one of the better off-seasons in program history with players moving on to four-year schools.  The number rose to 13 this past weekend.

Meekins will play at Northwest Nazarene, located in Nampa, Idaho.  The Nighthawks play an NCAA D2 schedule within the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.  Meekins played in 35 games in two seasons at Saddleback, finishing 3-1 out of the bullpen while striking out 38 batters in 42.1 innings of work.

Morales gave a pledge to Utah Valley, located in Orem, Utah.  The Wolverines play an NCAA D1 schedule within the Western Athletic Conference.  Morales was named to the All-Orange Empire Conference First Team after batting .370 for the season and leading the squad with a .465 on-base percentage.  He led the team with 39 walks while finishing third in RBI (46).

Zwahlen committed to Colorado Mesa University, located in Grand Junction, Colorado.  The Mavericks play an NCAA D2 schedule within the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  Zwahlen finished 3-2 with a 4.89 ERA in 2023.  He finished with 30 strikeouts in 46 innings of work.
