Collins heading to the beach
The Saddleback baseball program was back in the news this week with the announcement that another member of the 2023 squad has made a commitment to a four-year university. Catcher Jack Collins committed to Long Beach State University, according to the baseball office.
Collins has had a big season for Saddleback. He is among the leaders on the team in a number of offensive categories. Collins leads the team in stolen bases (8) and is second in batting average (.403) and on-base percentage (.470). His .500 slugging percentage ranks fourth on the team and has thrown out 19 runners trying to steal a base.
Collins lettered in baseball at Santa Margarita Catholic High School before graduating in 2021. While at SMCHS, he was an All-Trinity League selection and part of a CIF championship program.
Long Beach State play an NCAA DI schedule within the Big West Conference.
Collins is the second Saddleback player to commit to a four-year university, with pitcher Tommy Di Landri committing to USC earlier in the year.
