Bobcats enjoy a track meet

The Saddleback baseball team improved to 3-1 with a 20-4 victory at Rio Hondo College on Friday in Whittier.  The Bobcats had 13 runs in the fourth inning in cruising to the win.

Saddleback had season highs in every offensive category on Friday after scoring just 13 runs in the first three games of the season heading into the matchup at Rio Hondo.  The Bobcats took apart the Roadrunner pitching staff, collecting 22 hits while scoring in six different innings.  The biggest came in the top half of the fourth inning when Saddleback sent 19 batters to the plate, pounding out 11 hits to go along with a walk and hit batsman.  Cole Koniarsky had three plate appearances in the inning while Ben Castelli, Isaiah Morales, Jacob Naso and Michael Davinni all had two hits in the innings.

Morales was the star on offense, finishing 5-for-6 on the day with two runs-scored and four RBI.  Naso and Castelli finished with three hits apiece.

Saddleback started Arthur Liu on the mound and he pitched through the fifth inning to pick up his second win of the season.  The Bobcats then let four pitchers pitch one inning apiece as Ryan Cullinane, Tyler Byrns, Blake Butcher and Christian Finnigan all received an inning of work.

Saddleback was flawless in the field for a second straight game, recording no errors while turning three double plays.

Saddleback is now 3-1 to start the season.  The Bobcats will go for a third straight win on Saturday when they travel to Moorpark College to take on the Raiders.  The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM in Moorpark.
