Dissin drafted by the Phillies

The Saddleback baseball program was back in the news this week as a member of the 2022 squad was drafted by a major league club at the annual MLB Draft.  Catcher Jordan Dissin was taken by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 12th round.

Dissin had a sensational spring when he batted .393 with a team-high .505 on-base percentage.  In addition, he led the team in triples (2), bases-on-balls (33), runs-scored (53) and hits (64).  As a result, Dissin was named to the All-Orange Empire Conference First Team following the season.

Dissin had previously committed to play at UC San Diego in April.  He arrived at Saddleback after playing in three games for the University of Richmond in 2021.  Previous to UR, Dissin lettered in baseball at Malvern Prep (PA) before graduating in 2020.  While at MPA, Dissin was part of a state championship program and an All-Inter-AC selection.

Dissin was drafted in the 12th round with the 362nd pick by the Philadelphia Phillies.  It is the second consecutive year that Saddleback baseball has had a player selected at the MLB Draft as former player Mike Jarvis was selected in the 2021 draft.  Saddleback's best season during the Sommer McCartney era came in 2017 when four players were selected.
