Two more Bobcats on the move

The Saddleback baseball program was back in the news this past week with the announcement of two more players from the 2022 squad making a commitment to four-year universities.  Eric Schumann and Nick Dietsch are the latest commitments, running the total to seven for the year.

Saddleback had a big season in 2022 and with that success comes players moving on to the next level.  Eric Schumann will take his act to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (AZ) while Nick Dietsch will play at Emmanuel College (GA).

Schumann pitched in five games this past season, finishing with a perfect 0.00 ERA in 4.1 innings of work.  He pitched in 12 games total at Saddleback, finishing with 14 strikeouts in 13 innings of work.  Schumann lettered in baseball at Capistrano Valley High School before graduating in 2019.  He will now head to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, located in Prescott, Arizona.  The Eagles play under the NAIA umbrella in the California Pacific Conference.

Dietsch played in 16 games for the Bobcats this past season and had a .533 on-base percentage with one home run in 19 at-bats.  He also played in 18 games during the abbreviated 2021 campaign.  In total, Dietsch had 11 RBI in 34 games and 73 at-bats with the Bobcats.  He lettered in baseball and football at Mission Viejo High School before graduating in 2019.   Dietsch will play at Emmanuel College located in Franklin Springs, Georgia.  The Lions play an NCAA DII schedule within the Conference Carolinas. 

Schumann and Dietsch bring the total of commitments for Saddleback during the off-season to seven.
