Saddleback had a couple of rough outings last week but got things going back in the right direction with a win against Cypress on Friday night.
The Bobcats and Chargers went back and forth in the opening set and at one point it looked as if Cypress was going to start the night with a win. The Chargers had a game point with a lead of 24-23 before the Bobcats rattled off three straight points to take the opening game of the night, 26-24.
The win in the opening set seemed to energize Saddleback as the Bobcats cruised in the final two sets. Saddleback jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the second set on way to a 25-20 win. The third set had the same feel as Saddleback was up 5-0 to start before cruising to a 25-17 win.
Saddleback is now 11-4 overall and 7-2 in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play following the win. The Bobcats are tied with Irvine Valley College for second place in the standings, two games back of Orange Coast College.
Saddleback resumes OEC play with a match at Riverside City College next Wednesday. The Bobcats and Tigers are scheduled to start at 6:00 PM in Riverside.
