Gauchos fire season-low 320

Gauchos fire season-low 320

The Saddleback women's golf team turned in its lowest score of the season by shooting 320 at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club on Monday in Mission Viejo.  The Gauchos had three players in the 70's in finishing second.

Saddleback was finally on home turf after playing the first three rounds of Orange Empire Conference play in the hot conditions of the desert.  The Gauchos used it to their advantage, shooting a season-low round of 320.

Saddleback was led by Katie Stribling, who shot 77 on the par-72, 5,553-yard layout.  Stribling made the turn at even par and then eagled the 10th hole to move to -2 before having some issues on the final eight holes.

Saddleback also received tremendous efforts from Sunhae Son (pictured) and Tomoko Kim, who both shot 79.  It was easily the best round of the year for both players and vaulted the Gauchos to within six shots of conference-leader College of the Desert.

Saddleback also had season-low rounds from both Lauren Lee (85) and Sam Lapple (86).

Saddleback's team score of 320 was 22 shots better than the previous low of 342 shot last week at Royal Vista Golf Course.  It also moved the Gauchos into a tie with Mt. San Antonio College for second place in OEC play, behind front-runner College of the Desert.

Saddleback will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Costa Mesa Country Club in an OEC event hosted by Orange Coast College.
