Gauchos battle to second place

The Saddleback women's golf team finished in second place at the opening meet of the season at Desert Willow Resort on Wednesday in Palm Desert.  Sophomore Katie Stribling led the way in individual play.

Saddleback played in sweltering heat against a tough field in Orange Empire Conference play, finishing with a team total of 349.  The Gauchos finished 21 shots off the pace set by College of the Desert, who was playing on their home track.

Stribling with a 3-over-par round of 75 on the 6,097-yard layout.  She finished one shot off the pace set by Mt. San Antonio College's Precious Saelee, who shot 74.

Saddleback's Anna Stowers finished in sixth place in individual play, shooting a round of 84.
