Two Gauchos earn All-OEC

The Saddleback women's basketball team was back in the news on Monday when the basketball office announced that two members of the 2018-19 squad had earned all-conference honors.  Joice Beda and Kayla De Leon were both named to the All-Orange Empire Conference Team by the coaches.

Beda was named to the first team after leading the Gauchos in scoring and rebounding during the course of the season.  Beda averaged 15.7 points and 14.1 rebounds-per-game, setting a program record for a single game when she collected 25 rebounds against Orange Coast College on February 14.  She scored in double-digits in the final 13 games of the season, netting a season-high 23 points against Riverside City College on January 25.

De Leon was named to the second team after averaging 14.4 points and 4.7 rebounds-per-game during the season.  De Leon is the Saddleback career leader in every three-point shooting category, making 160 shots from beyond the arc in 47 games for the Gauchos.  She had a record-setting nine three-pointers in one game against Riverside City College on January 7, 2018, when she finished with a career-high 38 points.

Saddleback finished the season 6-18 overall and 3-11 in Orange Empire Conference play (6th place).
