Gonter guides Gauchos past SAC
The Saddleback men's water polo team picked up another win this week with a dominating decision over Santa Ana College. Max Gonter led the charge in the 16-8 decision.
Gonter has been the leading scorer all season and flexed his muscles against Santa Ana on Wednesday. Gonter scored five times, upping his team-leading total to 55 goals for the year.
Saddleback led 2-0 in the opening period when Gonter scored back-to-back goals for a 4-0 lead. His first came at the 1:56 mark and the second with 42 seconds remaining in the period.
Gonter then had three in a row in the third period after being held scoreless in the second. He tallied his first with 4:12 left in the period, his second with 3:13 remaining and gave the Gauchos a 12-4 lead with 54 seconds remaining in the period.
Saddleback is now 13-6 overall and 2-3 in Orange Empire Conference play after the win. The Gauchos will host the Saddleback Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
