Gauchos show mettle against Olympians

The Saddleback men's tennis team picked up another win on Thursday with a 7-2 victory over San Diego Mesa College on the Saddleback tennis courts.  The Gauchos swept through doubles play on the way to the win.

Saddleback was looking to bounce back after a loss to Ventura earlier in the week and made it a point to come out with intensity.  The Gauchos steam-rolled over the Olympians to start the match in doubles play, shaking off the loss and setting the stage for a comfortable win. 

Saddleback won 24 out of 32 games in doubles play and was only challenged in one match. The No. 2 team of Max Svensson and Riley McCall rolled past their opponents, 8-1, while the team of Brandon Ho and Richard Jayasaputra did the same against their opponents at No. 3 doubles, 8-1.  Lucas Fortt and Oliver Svensson had to work a bit harder at No. 1 doubles, but ended up coming away with an 8-6 win. 

Jayasaputra, Oliver Svensson, Ho and Max Svensson all ended up winning two matches on the day after winning in singles play.  The four combined to win 49-of-61 games in bringing home the victory.

Saddleback is now 3-2 to start the season.  The Gauchos will be on the road for three matches next week.  Saddleback will travel to El Camino College on Tuesday, Irvine Valley College on Thursday and San Diego City College on Friday.  All three matches are scheduled to start at 2:00 PM.
