Gauchos roll past Warriors for 2-0 start

The Saddleback men's tennis team improved to 2-0 with an 8-1 win over El Camino College on Thursday afternoon at the Saddleback Tennis Complex.  The Gauchos lost just nine total games in singles play on way to the win.

Saddleback opened with a 2-1 advantage in doubles play, winning at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.  Lucas Fortt (pictured left) and Tyler Edwards (pictured center) combined for a comfortable 8-3 against Connor Davis and Stephen Whitman to get the Gauchos off to a quick start before Oliver Ludwig (pictured right) and Ryan Burns combined for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles.

Saddleback kicked things into high gear when it came to singles play.  Shayan Haddad Kaveh was completely dominant at No. 1 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Connor Davis for a 4-1 lead after El Camino didn't have enough players for a match at No. 6 singles.  The Gauchos finished off the Warriors with singles wins from Tyler Edwards (6-0, 6-1), Chris Torcaso (6-2, 6-2), Lucas Fortt (6-2, 6-0) and Ivan Ozerets (6-1, 6-1)

Saddleback is now 2-0 on the season heading into a home match with Grossmont College on Friday.  The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM on the Saddleback courts.
