OEC Swim Championships Underway at Saddleback College

The 2019 Orange Empire Conference swimming championships are underway at Saddleback College and will continue through Saturday (April 20).  Prelims start at 9:30 a.m. each day with the afternoon finals beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Riverside City College captured both the men's and women's competitions at a conference swim meet earlier this season in the Saddleback College pool.  The Riverside men (733) easily outdistanced themselves from runner-up Golden West (468 pts), Cypress (303), Saddleback (296), Orange Coast (218), and Fullerton (65).  The Riverside women's team scored 574 points to edge past Orange Coast (521) while Cypress (323), Golden West (274), Saddleback (271) and Fullerton (55) gave chase.

The conference championship raises the stakes as there is no regional competition.  Swimmers are competing in this week's conference championship for a chance to qualify for the CCCAA State Championship meet which will take place May 2-4 at DeAnza College in Cupertino.

Admission to the Orange Empire Conference Swim Championships is free.  However, the college charges $5 per day for a one-day parking pass.  No smoking and no pets (other than service pets) are allowed on campus.
