Gauchos post solid score at Royal Vista

The Saddleback men's golf team finished in third place at the Orange Empire Conference match at Royal Vista Golf Course on Wednesday in Walnut.  All six Gauchos finished in the 70's as Saddleback had its best team score in nearly 12 months.

Saddleback finished 14 shots back of host Mt. San Antonio College, who shot a blistering 370 (+15) on the par 71, 5,425-yard layout.  The Gauchos were led by both Cole Griffo and Chase Bosanko, who shot 76 (+5).  They were followed closely by Evan Echelberger (77), Lawrence Young (77), Kai Castro (78) and Christian Plasso (79).   Griffo and Bosanko finished in a tie for 10th place in medalist play on Wednesday, with medalist honors going to Orange Coast's Connor O'Hern (71).  

The 384 posted by Saddleback was the best team score of the season for the Gauchos, and only two shots off the best total over the past two seasons.  Saddleback edged out 2018 state champion Cypress College on Wednesday, beating the Chargers in a card-off for third place.

Saddleback will tee it up again at the Riverside Invitational next Monday at Victoria Country Club in Riverside.  Match time is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
