Overton commits to the WAC

The Saddleback men's basketball program was back in the news on Monday when the basketball office announced that J.J. Overton had committed to a four-year university.  Overton gave a commitment to Utah Valley State University over the weekend.

Overton was a two-time First Team All-Orange Empire Conference selection, making the team this past season after averaging 14.8 and 6.3 rebounds-per-game.  In addition, he was second on the team in both assists and steals-per-game.  Overton had a season-high of 29 points against Glendale College on December 29 when he went 11-for-16 from the field.  He finished his career at Saddleback with 679 points, 231 rebounds, 126 assists and 58 steals.

Overton will head to Utah Valley State, located in Orem, Utah.  The Wolverines play an NCAA D1 schedule in the Western Athletic Conference.  Utah Valley State finished 25-10 overall and 12-4 in the WAC last season, making it to the WAC Tournament semifinals.  The Wolverines then played two games in the College Basketball Invitational before falling to South Florida, 66-57.
