Two Gauchos named All-OEC

The Saddleback men's basketball office announced that two players from the 2017-18 squad have made the All-Orange Empire Conference Team.  Both Shawn Stith and J.J. Overton were chosen by the coaches as Gaucho representatives.

Saddleback will find out whether or not they make the playoffs on Sunday but the conference coaches convened at Fullerton College on Saturday to determine all-conference and finish up some other business as part of the annual post-season coaches meeting.  Both Stith and Overton were selected Orange Empire Conference First Team by the coaches after the team finished an up-and-down 14-14 regular season.

Stith led the squad in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 13 points and 6.3 rebounds-per-game.  He shot 57.8% from the field and 74.3% from the free throw line, scoring in double-figures 21 times.  Stith had his biggest scoring game of the year this past week when he totaled 24 points against rival Irvine Valley College on Tuesday.  He is a freshman from Freemont High School in the Bay Area.

Overton was the second leading scorer on the team, averaging 12.5 points-per-game.  He led the team in blocked shots (17) while finishing second in both assists (60) and steals (30).  Overton had his highest scoring game of the season when he dumped in 24 points against Irvine Valley College on January 5.    He is a freshman from Rancho Bernardo High School.
