Bio

Since joining the Saddleback College volleyball program in the fall of 2018, coach Lael Fresenius has established herself as an incredibly valuable assistant for both the indoor and beach programs.  Known for her competitiveness and volleyball savvy as both a player and coach, Fresenius brings an abundance of knowledge and passion for the game.  During her time coaching, she has coached various age levels, attempting to instill the same drive and understanding of the game in all of her players. 

A local product out of Dana Hills High School, Fresenius enjoyed a successful juniors career, earning a spot on the Volleyball Monthly "Fab 50" in her senior year.  She went on to play at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she continued to excel, being named All-American in her senior year as well as Cal Poly SLO's Athlete of the Year.  Following her successful Division 1 collegiate career, Fresenius competed professionally on the beach with the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals), WPVA (Women's Professional Volleyball Association), and BVA (Beach Volleyball America) tours.  

In addition to coaching at Saddleback, Fresenius has spent time coaching at the club and  high school levels.  She served as Head Girls' Varsity Volleyball Coach at Dana Hills High School for six years (2004-2009) and was also the Head Girls' Junior Varsity Coach at J Serra High School (2012).  In club, she has coached all age groups from 13’s-18’s and has helped produce successful players at each level. 

Fresenius resides in Laguna Niguel with her daughters. She continues to enjoy playing volleyball and has instilled the same love for the game and desire to compete in her three daughters. Two of her daughters have are Saddleback College beach alumni and have competed at division 1 schools for indoor.
