A Love-ly beginning
The Saddleback fall campaign started off with a bang with the cross country team participating in the Tour de Cuesta in San Luis Obispo. The Bobcats finished second in the women's race as freshman Payton Love won the first race of her collegiate career.
Love finished the 5k race in 20:33.3 and was 5.5 seconds ahead of her closest competitor. Love was one of two Saddleback harriers to finish in the top 10, with five Bobcats finishing in the top 15.
Shae Barrera finished in 10th place when she crossed the finish line in 23:42.5. The Bobcats then had runners finish 13-14-15 with Danna Ibarra Canales (24:53.0), Casey Jones (25:27.3) and Midori McConathy (25:56.6).
Saddleback finished with 30 total points, five back of Allan Hancock College.
Saddleback will be back in action next Friday at the San Diego Kickoff at Harry Griffith Park.
