Gauchos run well at Highlander Invitational

The Saddleback women's cross country team finished second among community college programs at the UC Riverside Highlander Invitational on Saturday in Riverside.  Dana McGrath finished 55th overall and 52nd among runners competing for a team score.

McGrath was running against four-year institutions on Saturday and held her own, finishing 55th overall out of 207 harriers and third amongst community college runners.  McGrath finished the 6k trek in 22:39.8, just behind Glendale's Yajaira Calderon (22:06.3) and Phoebe Forsythe (22:23.0). 

Saddleback's Nayelli Hernandez finished 82nd overall with a time of 23:12.2 while Cayla Porter was 96th (23:23.3), Alexis Park 118th (24:04.0) and Holly Morales 139th (24:35.6).

Saddleback finished ahead of rival Riverside City College for the first time this season as the Tigers finished in 19th place overall.  Another Orange Empire Conference foe, Santa Ana College, finished 23rd.

Saddleback will run again at the Orange Empire Conference Championships at Irvine Regional Park on November 1.
