Women’s XC has best finish ever
The Saddleback women's cross country team finished up its most successful season on record on Saturday with a 10th place finish at the state meet in Fresno. Freshman Caroline Dagarin led the Gauchos with a 50th place finish as the top-5 harriers all finished in the top-85 in the field.
Saddleback started the season with a terrible traffic accident when their team van was rear-ended by a semi-truck, forcing many of the runners to miss a handful of weeks of conditioning and another to miss the entire season. The Gauchos used it as a source of motivation, eclipsing a previous-best finish of 14th back in 2010.
Dagarin ran the 5k course in 19:53. She was followed closely by Rachel Oberschelp in 66th (20:14) and both Kimberly Jovanus (20:20) and Angel Vallier, who finished less than a second apart. Charlotte Owen finished in 85th overall (20:34).
Congrats Gauchos on a great season!
