Marin or bust

Marin or bust

The Saddleback women's water polo team qualified for the 3C2A State Tournament on Friday with an 18-8 win over Ventura College in the Southern California Regional Tournament at Citrus College.  It is the first time the program has ever made it to the state tournament, which will be held at College of the Marin from November 16-18.

Saddleback has shattered just about every record in program history in 2023 and added to the list of accomplishments on Friday.  The Bobcats won in the regional quarterfinals, earning them a spot at the state tournament.   Now they will face conference rival Riverside City on Saturday in the regional semifinals.

Saddleback jumped out to a big lead, scoring the first six goals of the game in taking a 6-0 lead with 7+ minutes left in the second quarter.  Brielle Horner and Lola Annear scored two goals apiece in the quick start.

The rest of the game belonged to Katherine Butler, who was a dominating force throughout.  Butler scored four goals the rest of the way to lead both teams in scoring.

Saddleback is now 21-10 overall after the win on Friday.  The Bobcats will face RCC at 12:15 PM on Saturday at Citrus in the semifinals.

Saddleback will head to College of Marin for the state tournament next week.  They will find out their opening-round opponent in the coming days.
