The Saddleback women's water polo team advanced to the finals of the Orange Empire Conference Tournament with a 16-7 win over Cypress College on Friday at Orange Coast College. It was the 20th win for Saddleback, which is a new single-season record.
Saddleback wasted no time in jumping out to a big lead. The Bobcats built up an 11-1 lead at the half on way to cruising past the Chargers.
Katherine Butler (pictured) and Lola Annear led the way for Saddleback, scoring four goals apiece. Annear scored three straight goals to start the second quarter as the Bobcats bolted out to an 8-1 lead.
Saddleback is now 20-9 overall and 5-1 in Orange Empire Conference play. The 20 wins breaks the record of 19 set last season when the Bobcats qualified for the Southern California Regional Tournament for the first time in 17 years.
Saddleback will take on Riverside City College in the tournament finals on Saturday at 3:10 PM. Riverside City advanced to the finals with an 8-5 win against Orange Coast College.
