Saddleback hosting conference championship tournament

Saddleback College is hosting the men's and women's Orange Empire Conference water polo championships November 3-5 in the campus pool with CCCAA Southern California Regional berths at stake.

The women will play the quarterfinal and semifinal games on Thursday with the men taking to the pool on Friday for their quarterfinal and semifinal action.  Both the men and women will play the finals round on Saturday.

Teams finishing in the top four at the conference tournament are eligible for a Southern California Regional playoff spot.


Thursday (women's games):
9:00 a.m.  -  #2 Golden West defeated #7 Santa Ana (21-3)
10:20 a.m. - #3 Fullerton defeated #6 Cypress (17-3)
11:40 a.m. - #4 Orange Coast defeated #5 Saddleback (11-4)
1:00 p.m.   - #6 Cypress defeated #7 Santa Ana (10-5), consolation semifinal 
2:20 p.m.   - #3 Fullerton defeated #2 Golden West (7-6), championship semifinal 1
3:40 p.m.   - #1 Riverside defeated #4 Orange Coast (12-4), championship semifinal 2

Friday (men's games):
9:00 a.m.  -  #4 Saddleback defeated #5 Fullerton (10-8)
10:20 a.m. - #3 Riverside defeated #6 Santa Ana (25-7)
1:00 p.m.   - #1 Golden West defeated #4 Saddleback (22-6) (championship semifinal 1)
2:20 p.m.   - #3 Riverside defeated #2 Orange Coast (8-6) (chamionship semifinal 2)

Saturday (placefinish games):
8:30 a.m. - Women's 5th place:  Saddleback defeated Cypress  (12-4)
9:50 a.m. - Men's 5th place:  Fullerton defeated Santa Ana  (14-5)
11:10 a.m. - Women's 3rd place:  Golden West defeated Orange Coast  (9-2)
12:30 p.m. - Men's 3rd place:  Saddleback defeated Orange Coast  (10-9 Sudden Death OT)
1:50 p.m.  -  Women's championship:  Fullerton defeated Riverside  (9-8) 
3:10 p.m. - Men's championship:  Golden West defeated Riverside   (17-8)

Admission to the conference tournament is free.  However, the college requires all vehicles to have a parking permit.  Daily parking permits are $5 per day.
