Fresenius wins weekly award

The Saddleback women's volleyball program is back in the news on Monday as one of its players was awarded the California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA) State Player-of-the-Week.  Freshman Stila Fresenius led the Bobcats to two big wins last week.

Fresenius has been a machine all season, leading the state in kills-per-set (6.1) while leading the team with 152 digs for the season.

Fresenius was particularly good last week as Saddleback knocked off both Orange Coast College and Golden West College, both of which were ranked in the top-25 in the state rankings.  Fresenius finished with 61 kills in nine sets against the two schools, also turning in 41 digs and 10 total blocks.

Fresenius and the Bobcats are now 10-3 overall and 6-1 in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play, leading the conference by a half game over rival Irvine Valley College.

Saddleback continues OEC play on Wednesday at Cypress College (6 PM).
