Gauchos sweep away the Cats

The Saddleback women's volleyball team recorded its 14th sweep of the season on Wednesday with a 3-0 victory over Riverside City College in Riverside.  The Gauchos have one more match before the Southern California Regional Playoffs are announced.

Saddleback was looking to bounce back after losing a hard-fought battle with second place Cypress College on Monday night.  The Gauchos did just that, sweeping past the Tigers 25-17, 25-23 and 25-20.

Saddleback was dominant up front with the three-pronged attack of Kendall Nolan, Keara O'Brien Pol and Lauren Whitehouse.  The threesome accounted for 29 kills in 54 attempts as RCC had no answers.  Mariah Torres and Kiana Camargo were busy getting them the ball as they had 20 assists and 12 assists, respectively, to lead the team.  Kelli Dowell had a big match in the defensive end, finishing with a team-high in both digs (12) and service aces (4).

Saddleback will play its final regular season next Wednesday on the road at Golden West College.  The Gauchos and Rustlers are scheduled to start at 6:00 PM in Huntington Beach.
