Gauchos make quick work of Hawks

The Saddleback women's volleyball team kept pace with the top teams in the Orange Empire Conference with a three-set win over Santiago Canyon College on Friday night inside the gymnasium.  The Gauchos recorded their 13th sweep of the season in the process.

Saddleback knew they were facing a winless Santiago Canyon squad and just wanted to take care of business with a big week ahead.  The Gauchos dotted the I's and crossed the T's against the Hawks, winning 25-12, 25-11 and 25-12 in improving to 17-7 overall and 10-3 in Orange Empire Conference play.

Saddleback had an opportunity to let some players get some needed rest with a huge contest against Cypress College coming up on Monday.  Kelli Dowell led the squad with 11 digs while Kendall Nolan finished with a team-high seven kills.  The Gauchos were money from behind the line, recording 12 service aces with Michelle Solt and Natalee Gray each finishing with three.

Saddleback is tied with Cypress for second place and will host the Chargers on Monday in a fight for second place in the OEC.  Cypress stunned the Gauchos on October six when they defeated Saddleback 3-1.  Match time on is scheduled for 6:00 inside the Saddleback Gymnasium.
