Gauchos cruise past GWC

The Saddleback women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Golden West College at the Saddleback Gymnasium on Friday night.  The Gauchos are now tied for second place heading to the second half of the conference schedule.

Saddleback opened the night in a four-way tie for second place.  They finished in a two-way tie after streaking past Golden West 25-22, 25-22, 25-18.

Saddleback had great performances from a number of players and showed a ton of depth in beating the Rustlers.  The Gauchos were led by Mandy Sides, who finished the night with 12 kills in 26 attempts.  Kelli Dowell was also a force on defense, finishing with a team-high 12 digs.  Antonette Rolda led the team with 17 assists despite only playing in two sets.

Saddleback is now in a tie for second place with Cypress College, two games back of top-ranked Irvine Valley in the Orange Empire Conference standings.  The Gauchos (13-6, 6-2) will look to continue their winning ways when they host Santa Ana (8-9, 1-7) next Wednesday at 6:00 PM in the gymnasium.  The Gauchos defeated the Lady Dons in straight sets on September 15.
