Ibarra Canales gets “B” Standard

The Saddleback women's track & field team was in action at the Dave Shannon Invitational at El Camino College this past weekend.  Freshman Danna Ibarra Canales continued to impress, leading the Bobcats.

Saddleback and the rest of the field made the best of the bad weather over the weekend, and some used the opportunity to achieve new highs.  Ibarra Canales had a solid outing when she went out and won the 800 meters in a personal-best time.  She crossed the finish line in 2:22.76 to win the race.  The time was 2.61 seconds faster than her previous best at one of the Orange Empire Conference meets earlier in the season.  Ibarra Canales now has the seventh fastest time in the state this season.  In addition, the time on Saturday achieved the state's "B" standard.

Saddleback had two other top-5 performances turned in by Maya Schweitzer in the long jump and triple jump.  Schweitzer was fourth in the long jump (4.62m) and fifth in the triple jump (9.41m).

Saddleback will be back in action at the Long Beach City College Post Meridiem Meet this Friday.
