Solid scores recorded at Cerritos
The Saddleback women's track & field team was back in action on Friday with one of the better meets of the year at Cerritos College. A handful of personal records were set as the Gauchos near the conference finals.
Saddleback has been dominant in distance events for the year and kept the trend rolling on Friday. Caroline Dagarin set a personal-best in the 1,500-meters, crossing the finish line in 4:47.04. It was good enough for third place overall in the race and put her as the third best runner in program history in the event. In addition, Dagarine moved into the top-10 in the state this season with the result.
Joining Dagarine with personal-best scores on Friday were Hannah Auld and Anna Gillis. Auld had a personal-best in the pole vault with a jump of 3.05-meters. It was good enough to finish seventh overall and sixth amongst community college athletes in the event. It also moved Auld to 10th all-time in the history of the program and was the 14th best vault in the state this season. Gillis finished second overall and had a personal best in the discus throw with a toss of 40.96-meters. It moved Gillis into seventh all-time in Saddleback history and was good enough for seventh in the state this season.
Angel Vallier didn't set any personal records this week but finished in second overall and first among community college athletes in the 800-meters. Her run of 2:19.29 was 1.14 seconds off her personal best. She is currently ranked No. 8 in the event in the state.
Saddleback will compete again in the Orange Empire Conference prelims at Riverside on April 21.
