Vallier sets state mark in opening meet

The Orange Empire Conference track & field season started this past Friday and the Saddleback women's team jumped out of the gate with a quick start.  A handful of athletes have some of the top scores/times in the state.

Angel Vallier and the distance runners have been dominant so far, posting tremendous times in the opening Orange Empire Conference meet at Riverside.  On Friday, Vallier set the standard in the state so far with a time of 4:51.13 in the 1,500-meters. 

She was followed closely by Rachel Oberschelp, who ran the distance in 4:55.72.  Oberschelp's time is the ninth best time in the state so far.  Caroline Dagarin was right behind Oberschelp with a time of 4:57.56, which ranks 11th in the state.

Saddleback defeated Golden West while falling to perennial power Riverside at the meet.  Other top- five performances were turned in by:
