Two Bobcats move forward at state

The Saddleback women's tennis team had a great day on Thursday at the 3C2A State Tennis Tournament in Ojai, California.  The Bobcats had one pair move to the round of 32 while Ainsley Beresford won two matches in singles play.

Beresford teamed with Sydney Grove in winning in doubles on Thursday.  The duo had a bye in the opening round before sweeping past a team from Folson Lake College, 6-0, 6-0.  Beresford and Grove will now face the team of Rylie Maloney and Erin Johnson from Sierra College in the round of 32 at 3:30 PM on Friday.

Beresford also had a great day in singles play, winning twice.  She opened with a 6-3, 6-0 win against Chabot College's Sophie Fujioka.  Beresford then scored a 6-1, 7-5 win against Santa Barbara City College's Kate Zeile to advance to the round of 32.  Beresford will face Sierra's Rylie Maloney in the round of 32 on Friday at 8:00 AM. 

In other play, Averie Valverde and Ellie Maruna dropped a grueling 3-set match against Modesto College's Halie Gregory and Sarah White in the round of 64 doubles play on Thursday, 6-2, 4-6, (8-10).
