Gauchos Get First Win of the Season

The Saddleback women's tennis team earned its first victory of the season when the Gauchos defeated Ventura, 6-3, last Friday in Ventura.

The Gauchos were down 2-1 after doubles play with the lone victory coming at No. 2 doubles from Bailey Donine and Siena Rosnagle who defeated their Pirate counterparts, 8-2.  Donine and Rosnagle remain undefeated as a tandem this season with a 4-0 record. 

But Saddleback swept through the top five singles spots to earn the victory.  Kaitlyn Avilez had an easy go at No. 1 singles when her opponent retired one game into the second set.  Sydney Page won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Donine posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles.  Freshman Siena Rosnagle remained undefeated (3-0) at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory and Alexa Berg picked up her first singles win this season with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 5 singles.
