Gauchos topple Tigers to even record

The Saddleback women's tennis team has been surging in recent weeks and improved to 6-6 on the season with a 6-3 win over Riverside City College on Tuesday at the Saddleback Courts.  It was the third win in the past four matches for the Gauchos.

Saddleback moved back into third place in the Orange Empire Conference standings on Tuesday with a solid win over a Riverside program that entered the match 7-4 overall.  The Gauchos won 4-of-6 singles matches before finishing off the Tigers in doubles play.  Ashley Glick, Dominique Willette, Joanna Colin and Maddison Serklew all won at singles, with Serklew playing a marathon match and winning the tiebreaking third set 7-5 over Shannon Harris.  Glick then teamed with Willette at No. 1 doubles for an 8-6 win, ending the suspense in the team match.  The other two-time winner on the day was Colin, who teamed with Deena Fatehi with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.

Saddleback (6-6) is now 2-2 in conference play, one game back of Irvine Valley and two games back of first place Orange Coast.  The Gauchos will host Cypress College today on the Saddleback Courts.  Match time is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
