Cats grab 3rd in OEC Meet

The Saddleback women's swim team opened the Orange Empire Conference schedule with a third place finish on Friday inside the Saddleback Aquatics Complex.  The Bobcats were led by Julia Reid.

Reid was tremendous on Friday, winning two events and taking second in another.  She won the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:11.20 and the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:36.89.  Reid then went on to finish second in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 20:38.39.

Kaitlyn Dawley finished in the top six in three separate events.  Dawley was fifth in the 200 backstroke (2:33.08) while taking sixth in both the 100 backstroke (1:10.92) and 200 individual medley (2:32.78).

Miranda Riley picked up 32 points for the team with a second place finish in the 100 fly (1:05.59) and a fourth place finish in the 200 fly (2:40.02). Gabrielle Pasillas also had two stellar performances by finishing second in the 200 freestyle (2:11.30) and sixth in the 100 freestyle (1:00.97).  Another with two finishes in the top half-dozen was Marin Hickson, who was third in the 1,650 freestyle and sixth in the 500 freestyle (6:06.84).  Carson Mackenzie also had a top-6 finish when she touched the pad in sixth in the 200 fly (2:54.59).

Riverside City won the women's event with a 545 total, followed by Orange Coast (512), Saddleback (327), Golden West (321), Cypress (221) and Fullerton (132).

Saddleback will compete again at Orange Coast College on March 21-22.
