Women’s swim 4th in opener

The Saddleback swim team was in action for the first time this season on Friday at the Golden West Invitational in Huntington Beach.  The women's team finished fourth out of 10 teams in the opener.

Saddleback had some excellent performances, including three top-5 finishes from Julia Reid.  The freshman from Tustin High School finished second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:12.61) while finishing third in the 100 Freestyle (58.80) and fifth in the 50 Freestyle (26.52).  It all added up to 29 team points from Reid, who led the Bobcats.

Joining Reid with top-5 performances were Kaitlyn Dawley, Marin Hickson, Lola Annear, Miranda Riley and Carson Mackenzie.    Dawley was fourth in both the 200 Individual Medley (2:35.03) and 100 Individual Medley (1:10.47).  Hickson finished fifth in both the 200 Individual Medley (2:36.92) and 500 Freestyle (6:00.76).  Annear finished in third place in the 50 Backstroke (32.97) while Riley was second in the 100 Fly (1:06.07) and Mackenzie was fifth in the 50 Fly (34.29).

Saddleback finished with 151 points as a team to edge Southwestern College by one point.  Riverside City College won the opening event.

Saddleback will be back in the water next Thursday and Friday when it hosts the Saddleback Invitational.  Dive events will take place on Thursday with swim events on Friday.
