Gauchos finish 13th at PCC Invitational
The Saddleback women's swim team finished in 13th place at the Pasadena City College Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Pasadena. The Gauchos had a number of top-20 finishes in one of the top meets of the season.
Saddleback competed against the top competition in the state and finished 13th out of 19 programs. The Gauchos had four athletes finish in the top-20 in six different events.
Lauren Nyberg and Gabrielle Walker both finished in the top-20 in two separate events. Nyberg finished in 16th place in the 1650 Freestyle Race when she hit the wall in 22:06.31. She was also 17th in the 400 Individual Medley when she finished in 5:32.03. Walker was 16th in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:16.81 while finishing 17th in the 100 Backstroke in a time of 1:09.91.
Two other Gauchos had top-20 times in Hailey Melendez and Tori Higginson. Melendez was 17th in the 200 Fly when she tapped the end line in 2:58.61. Higginson was 19th in the 1650 Freestyle with a time of 24:43.81.
Saddleback will compete again when they host the Orange Empire Conference Championships on April 18-20.
