Women 6th at PCC Relays

The Saddleback women's swim and dive team finished in sixth place at the prestigious Pasadena City College Relays on Friday and Saturday in Pasadena.  The Gauchos had 10 different top-10 finishes at one of the better events of the season.

Saddleback was facing some of the top competition in the state this weekend and did nothing to hurt their reputation, finishing in the top third of the teams at the event.  The Gauchos finished in the top-10 in four separate relays and had a trio of individuals with top-10 finishes.

Amber Theders was arguably the most impressive, finishing with three finishes in the top-10.  Theders led things off with a seventh place finish in the 500 Freestyle, hitting the wall at 5:39.18.  Theders then went out and finished sixth in the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 5:07.63, which was the seventh fastest finish in the 43-year history of the program.  She wasn't done, finishing 10th in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:45.03, which was also good enough for seventh all-time in program history.

Lindsey Turi also has a tremendous meet, finishing ninth in the 1,650 Freestyle race (20:35.37) and fifth in the 200 Fly (2:37.17).  Her time in the 1,650 Free ranks 25th all-time while her time in the 200 Fly ranks eighth.

Kailey Banayat also had an outstanding performance in the 200 Fly, finishing right behind Turi in sixth place with a time of 2:41.14.  It was the ninth fastest time in program history.

Saddleback had solid finishes in the relays, finishing fifth in the 800 Freestyle Relay (9:00.60), sixth in the 200 Medley Relay (2:06.51), eighth in the 400 Medley Relay (4:40.41) and eighth in the 400 Free Relay (4:10.45).

Saddleback will be back in the pool at the Orange Empire Conference Championships on April 19-21 at Riverside City College.
