Gaucho women finish 21st at state

The Saddleback women's swim and dive team finished 21st at the state meet at East Los Angeles College over the weekend.  Swimmer Raquel Remick and diver Sarah Duke led the charge.

For Saddleback, it was the best finish for the women since finishing 12th back in 2009.  Remick was critical, scoring points in both the 100 Backstroke and 500 Freestyle.  She finished in seventh place in the 100-back with a time of 1:00.51 and was eighth in the 500-free with a time of 5:19.68.

Duke (pictured) was a force in the dive competition, finishing seventh in the 3-meter dive and 13th in the 1-meter competition.  Her total of 160.25 in the 3-meter finals earned the team 12 points in the team competition.

In addition, dive coach Curt Wilson (pictured) was named state dive coach-of-the-year after Saddleback's great finish at the state meet.
