Bobcats shut down Delta

The Saddleback women's soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 1-0 win against San Joaquin Delta College on Friday at the Mt. San Antonio College Nike/Azteca Soccer Classic. The Bobcats will play Palomar College on Sunday to finish up the tournament.
Saddleback and San Joaquin Delta met in the state semifinals last December when the Bobcats defeated the Mustangs 3-1 to advance to the state championship game. Delta was back and looking for revenge on Friday, but Saddleback once again turned them aside in improving to 2-0 on the season.
Two veterans from the 2022 squad were back and looking for more in Chloe Green and Alyssa Sims. The duo combined for the only goal of the game in the 25th minute when Sims lofted a throw-in towards the goal and Green put it in the back of the net.
It was the third goal in two games for Green to start the season while Sims now has a goal and two assists to start the year.
Saddleback outshot Delta 12-6 in shots-on-goal. Dublin Synnott started in goal and played the entire 90 minutes to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Saddleback will finish the tournament on Sunday when they face Palomar College at 12:00 PM. Mt. San Antonio College defeated Palomar, 6-2, in the other game in the tournament.
