Gauchos and Lasers battle to 2-2 tie

The Saddleback women's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to four on Friday with a 2-2 tie at Irvine Valley College.  The Gauchos led 2-0 before settling for the tie with the Lasers.

Saddleback shot out of the gate quickly when Maliyah Medley scored in the second minute for a 1-0 lead.  It was Medley's fifth goal of the season and she has now scored in each of the last four games.

Saddleback scored again in the 13th minute when Mia Wood connected for a 2-0 lead.  It was Wood's second goal of the year and the second in the past four games.

Irvine Valley battled back, scoring in the final minute of the half to bring the Lasers back to within 2-1 heading into the locker rooms.

Irvine Valley then tied the game in the 58th minute when Ciera Savin headed a ball past the Saddleback keeper to tie the game at 2-2.  The two teams went scoreless the rest of the way.

Saddleback is now 5-3-4 overall and 2-1-3 in Orange Empire Conference play following the tie.  The Gauchos will play again on Tuesday when they host Santiago Canyon College at the OC Great Park in Irvine.  Saddleback and Santiago Canyon are scheduled to start at 3:00 PM.
