Gauchos get dogs to obey

The Saddleback women's soccer team got back on track with a 2-0 win at East Los Angeles College on Tuesday in Monterey Park.  The Gauchos netted two early goals and made it stick in beating the Huskies.

Saddleback was coming off of three straight games where they outplayed their opponents but came away with no wins.  Tuesday was a chance to make things right, and the Gauchos did just that.

Saddleback scored in the 16th minute when Madeline Metzdorff took a pass from Chloe Deveze and netted her first goal of the season for a 1-0 lead.  The Gauchos then took a 2-0 lead in the 38th minute when Shanai Mai Auguis (pictured) scored her second goal of the season off a pass from Maliyah Medley.

Saddleback's defense did the rest, holding East Los Angeles to only four shots on goal.  Lehar Chawla played the first 45 minutes in net in picking up the win while Taylor Gayer played the final 45 minutes.  Both keepers finished with two saves on the day.

Saddleback finished the pre-conference schedule with a 3-2-1- record.  The Gauchos will open Orange Empire Conference play next Tuesday when they host Cypress College at the OC Great Park.  The Gauchos and Chargers are scheduled to start at 3:00 PM.
