Jara preserves tie against IVC

The Saddleback women's soccer teamed earned a 0-0 tie with inter-district rival Irvine Valley College on Tuesday in Irvine.  Dz-Rae Jara recorded her fifth shutout of the season against the Lasers.

Saddleback and Irvine Valley were both tremendous in the defensive end, allowing very few shots and keeping the other team off the scoreboard.  Jara finished with seven saves, most of which she turned aside with no problems.

Saddleback managed just three shots on goal against IVC keeper Marrisa Banos, who recorded her fourth shutout of the season.

Saddleback is now 5-4-3 overall and 2-4-2 in Orange Empire Conference play as they head into the second half of conference play.  The Gauchos are currently in seventh place in the OEC, but just two points behind sixth-place IVC in the standings with half the schedule remaining. 

Saddleback will host Orange Coast College on Friday.  The Gauchos and Pirates are scheduled to start at 6:00 PM.  OCC beat Saddleback in the conference opener, 2-1, on September 12.
