Bobcats purrfect to the end

The Saddleback women's golf team captured the Orange Empire Conference (OEC) championship with a win on Wednesday at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Club in Irvine.  The Bobcats finished 60-0 in OEC play.

Saddleback entered the round having already clinched the conference title and the only thing left to be determined was if they could finish the conference schedule unblemished.  The Bobcats accomplished the goal, winning by 13 shots over Fullerton College.

Nicole Whipple and Caitlin Randolph both finished with rounds of 79 on Wednesday to lead the team.  As a result, both finished fourth in medalist play for the day.  Following closely was Kenzie Edson and Lia Harvey, who shot 82 and 85, respectively.

Whipple was named to the All-Orange Empire Conference First Team following the round, completing the conference schedule with a 76.8 scoring average.  She finished second in the conference behind Fullerton College's Catherine Lee.

Making the second team for Saddleback were Caitlin Randolph, Kenzie Edson and Karissa Flores.

It was the second straight Orange Empire Conference championship and fifth in the past six seasons under head coach Bob Bosanko.  The Bobcats will attempt to capture a second straight Southern California Regional title when they take on the best from the region on November 6-7 at El Prado Golf Club in Chino.
